Closing Worship for the 2022-2023 School Year

This week, as we are winding down the year, was our closing Ecumenical Worship Service.  We had an opportunity to celebrate all the good of this year, while looking forward to all of the good that will come this summer.  All of our attendees will be returning for classes in the fall, so summer plans involved summer jobs and time at home with family.

We are especially grateful for the musical gifts of Amy and Quentin, as well as the ecumenical presence provided by the pastoral leadership of Pastor Mike and Father Tony.

Family Weekend Game Night!

For Family Weekend, we celebrated our first Saturday night game night of the year.  It is good to have the students back in the building, laughing, playing, building community and having a great time with each other!  This month, Apples to Apples was the go to game.  We hope you join us Saturday evening, October 1, to see what the next winning game will be!

Thanks to David (CCM) and Shanda (LCM) for the goodies for the evening!

Welcome Grill-Out

The Welcome Grill-Out was held on Tuesday, August 30.  It was a beautiful day for outdoor games and fresh off the grill hamburgers and hot dogs.  More than 50 people stopped by for supper with even more pausing on the lawn for games and to listen to Jeff James as he provided the musical entertainment.

As always, we appreciate the volunteers who support the effort at Lutheran and Catholic Campus Ministries.  Our grateful appreciation to our grillers (Stan and Jeff), providers of dessert (Dealyn, Paul, Tanya and their daughter), servers and clean up crew (Tonya, Paul, Tanya, and Doreen), our clergy (Fr. Tony, Fr. Shawn and Pastor Chuck) and our Newman leadership team (Elaina, Nate and Levi).  We could not have done it without you!

Join us the next time you see something happening at the Campus Religious Center!  We would be happy to have you!

Welcome Worship

On Tuesday, August 23rd, the Campus Religious Center hosted their annual ecumenical Welcome Worship.  Seven students were in attendance, along with members of the community.  Pastor Chuck Swanson, of St. Olaf and English Lutheran, in Walnut Grove, delivered the welcome.  Pastor Mike Mannisto, of First Lutheran, in Marshall, gave the sermon challenging us to all be more participating in Christian unity.  Father Shawn Polman, of Holy Redeemer, Marshall, gave the blessing to the students.  Father Paul Schumacher, of Cottonwood, shared some stories of the Christian unity that brought the building into existence.  It was a well-thought out and personal experience for all in attendance.

Shanda Walker and Becki Johnson, who serve in Lutheran Campus Ministry and Catholic Campus Ministry respectively were also participants in the service.  Our special thanks to Quentin Brunsvold and Amy Bauer for serving as music ministers.

Our student attendees were able to enjoy snacks and fellowship after the service.  It was so good to hear the sounds of talking and laughing in the building after it has been so quiet for the summer!  With such a wonderful kickoff, we have many good things to look forward to this year!
